Change in direction
Many days have passed since I last added a post here at Juills’ Blog. Where have I been you ask? I’ve been here, I just didn’t have anything worth posting. It seems like with technology you’re always trying to one up the previous thing that’s been done. Don’t get me wrong, I like technology, gadgets, and what you can have it do for you. However, I think I’m going to move this blog in another direction. I can’t say for sure that I’m moving away from blogging about technology, more of a less frequency of posting regarding technology and more posting on other aspects of life. I hope you’ll continue to visit and add your thoughts and comments to this blog… enjoy!

Personalized voicemail for your cellphone with Youmail.com
Youmail.com provides a way to catch your friends off guard and add a personal touch to your everyday voicemail by allowing you to record a unique voicemail for each person that calls you. Youmail recognizes the number of the individual calling you and plays the specified voicemail you’ve recorded for that person. Also, you can manage and listen to your voicemail from the web with Youmail.com’s web interface. This is great for when you are watching the minutes left on your monthly allotment. Currently their service is available for free and is compatible with Verizon, Cingular, and T Mobile. I love the fact that when my friends call and I am unable to answer, a personalized voicemail greets them… many do a quick double take when they hear something personalized asking them to leave a message, but they all get a kick out of the personalized message.
Check the strength of your password
Passwords. Everybody has them. They control our access to our internet connection, our bank accounts, email and much, much more. It is important to have a strong password. Do you have a strong password? A strong password consists of:
- a mix of lower and upper case letters, numbers, and if possible symbols,
- 14 characters or more in length (8 characters minimum),
- something other than your name, birth date, anniversary date, or actual word.
Once you have your password in mind, make note of it, keep it in a safe place, and head over to Microsoft’s website to verify the strength of your password.
